As Government Launches SME Lending Review, New Tech Could Unlock £5bn in Credit Annually by Halving Declined Applications – FXE and CFIT-Led Coalition

Research from a coalition led by the Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT), with contributions from FXE Technologies, found that UK SMEs could access an additional £5 billion in funding each year by improving their financial readiness and addressing common issues that lead to loan declines. The findings were published as the Government reviewed ways to improve SME access to finance.

The coalition’s work demonstrated how digital financial health tools, including FXE’s Funding Health Checker, can help businesses understand how lenders assess applications, identify barriers to approval and take practical steps to strengthen their credit profiles and improve funding outcomes.
