Who we are and what we do

Katrin Herrling is the founder and CEO of Funding Xchange and FXE Technologies, where she has been at the forefront of transforming access to finance for small and medium-sized businesses.

Through her work, she has built platforms that simplify and accelerate lending decisions, making commercial finance more accessible.

More recently, she has been leading the introduction of Agentic AI into complex lending processes, driving a new generation of intelligent systems that enhance human decision-making with structured credit papers, robust recommendations, and governance that ensures banks’ complex lending policies are accurately reflected.

Her leadership has positioned FXE as a key partner to major banks and financial institutions seeking to better serve commercial lending customers.

With a background spanning finance, strategy, and entrepreneurship, Katrin is a recognised voice in fintech innovation and SME finance. She is passionate about leveraging technology to create more inclusive financial ecosystems and has been instrumental in shaping industry collaboration between lenders, platforms, and policymakers.

Matt Collinge is the CTO here at FXE Technologies. He has over 20 years experience leading technology teams mainly in the Financial Services and FinTech arena. Matt has spent the last 8 years running Technology and Product at London based FinTechs, in the B2C Payments space at Curve and B2B FinOps at Sequence. Previously he was disrupting the Car and Home Insurance market at ComparetheMarket.com where he built the technology to aggregate 25M insurance quotes a day.

Time outside FXE is largely spent ferrying two teenagers to Hockey matches around the Midlands and having recently taken up the sport playing in the local league.

Lauren is the COO here at FXE Technologies. With a career built at the intersection of technology, operations, and client success across financial services, healthcare, and life sciences, Lauren plays a key role in shaping FXE’s delivery and growth strategy – keeping innovation and measurable outcomes at the heart of what we do. At FXE, she oversees operational excellence and plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless client delivery – driving efficiency, and fostering collaboration. With a background in biomedical engineering and life sciences, Lauren brings a distinctive perspective on how technology can deliver meaningful, real-world impact.

When not driving things forward at FXE, Lauren loves exploring new places and travelling back to Australia to visit family and friends.

Tom is a strategic CFO with deep expertise in fundraising, leveraged finance, and M&A, having closed complex financings and delivered bolt-on acquisitions across high-growth venture and PE-backed businesses in fintech, AI, and SaaS. Outside of work, Tom is a keen surfer and mountain biker who can be found at the weekends searching for empty waves or single tracks around Scotland, even in the winter.

Erik is Head of Data Products at Funding Xchange Technologies, where he helps turn data into practical, innovative tools that improve how lenders make decisions. Over the past seven years at FXE, he has grown the data function from a traditional analytics team into a product-driven capability – building solutions that help clients better understand risk, manage portfolios and uncover insights often hidden in plain sight.

Working at the intersection of data, product and technology, he partners closely with engineering teams to shape product direction and deliver high-impact solutions. More recently, this has included exploring how agentic AI can support underwriting and unlock new approaches that push beyond traditional industry norms.

Outside of work, music is a constant – whether listening, singing, or experimenting with drum machines and synths. Erik dedicates most of his time and energy to his fiancé and their two cats (Fuji & Spooky), making the most of life and maximising the fun along the way.

As Head of Client Solutions Liam works closely with our clients at the intersection between the sales, product and delivery functions to translate the problems and goals of our clients into actionable solutions using FXE’s technology platform capabilities.

Liam has over 10 years experience working in financial technology and prior to joining FXE Liam worked at fintech startup Divido, where as one of the earliest employees he was key in helping them to launch their white labelled POS finance platform, leading their solutions function to then deliver the platform to some of the worlds largest banks and retailers.

In his spare time Liam is a keen 5-aside football player, where on the west London circuit he has the nickname ‘the cat’ – which he likes to think is down to his fast reflexes but is more likely due to his love of snacks and refusal to do any running out field.

Martin is an Engineering Lead here at FXE Technologies. He has over 15 years of experience engineering software solutions across the telecoms, automotive and financial services sectors. Previously he led the migration of a high-volume investment bank transaction management system from an outdated database technology to a system capable of handling over 10 million financial transactions per day.

Martin resides in Scotland and is an avid ‘munro bagger’ when he’s not looking after his two young sons. He has completed 105, so only 177 to go!

Sam leads the Customer Success team at FXE Technologies, supporting banks and lenders as they transform how SMEs access finance. With a background at NatWest and Esme Loans, Sam brings deep experience in business lending and fintech innovation, helping clients get the most from FXE’s technology and data. Passionate about making funding simpler and smarter, Sam focuses on building strong relationships and turning complex processes into seamless solutions.

Outside of work, most of his time is devoted to his daughter and tackling a never ending list of DIY projects.

Will is an Engineering Lead here at FXE Technologies. He has over 20 years of experience in software development, technical leadership and team management across fintech, government and insurance sectors. Before joining FXE, he spent seven years working for one of the leading providers of digital banking platforms, delivering Identity and Access Management solutions that met the complex security needs of banks worldwide. Will is highly customer-focused and passionate about building software that solves real problems.

Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and takes pride in keeping his lawns in top condition.
